Although not royalty, Mervyn Horatio Herbert, Viscount Clive purchased this tiara in 1930 for his wife Vida Cuthbert, daughter of Capt james Cuthbert DSO. Vida Cuthbert married the Viscount in 1934, the second son of the 4th Earl of Powis, who bequeathed Powis castle to the National Trust in 1952.
