When looking for the date on this we happened on the Spring 1985 collection and the shots we found all share that same feel of this dress. That makes it land in the Karl Lagerfeld era who designed for them from 1974 to 1988. He left and eventually rejoined the label for a short stint from 1992 to 1996. The dress is fantastic and I love it.

The dress is as light as air and it is made from a weightless silk organza that has just enough crispness to it to hold the shape while adding as little weight as possible. It is strapless and the bodice is gathered into soft draped pleats that are gathered into the seam on each side of the centre of the back and then down the centre front. Light boning down each side helps give it the tiniest bit of structure and then it simply drapes over your bust. The fabric has transparency to it and the bodice has an inner silk lining to give it just a touch of added opaqueness. It comes in at the waist and then out and over the hips. The low skirt falls from under that to the floor and it is also made from a double layer of the silk. The two layers of the skirt float over each other and will move with your slightest movement. The perfect finish is that huge soft bow that is attached onto the bodice. It is made from a wide sash of the same silk and it is so pretty. Long ties extend down from the bow to fall over the front of the dress. I love it. Excellent condition

The second inner layer of the same fabric in the skirt acts as the lining and the bodice is lined in a black silk. It closes with a back set zipper. Light boning at the sides of the top
